Basic Golf Ball Selection

All golfers are individuals, however you can generalize the type of stroke played and brake it down into six main categories, of which there is a standard choice of golf ball best suited to help the player improve their overall game. These can be listed as follows-

Slicers

Recommended – Low spin rated golf balls

Reason- By reducing the spin you reduce the effect of the slice.

Low ball hitter

Recommended – High spin rated golf balls

Reason- The high spin on the golf ball enabling it to stop sooner, therefore increasing control.

Low distance hitter

Recommended – Two piece golf balls

Reason- Increases the top spin on the golf ball and therefore range.

Long distance hitter

Recommended- Three piece softer golf balls

Reason- Improves control around the green, helping you to work the golf ball.

Picker (takes no divot)

Recommended- Two piece performance golf balls

Reason- A lower compression and higher spin rate as pickers need the spin rate to help get the ball in the air.

Experienced / Professional

Recommended- Four piece golf balls

Reason- The extra layer transfers more energy at club impact  to the core of the golf ball therefore improving the range.
